    Leonel juramenta a Johnny y a Milly

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 09:38 AM EST [General]

    Virtual Colonoscopy

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 06:35 AM PST [General]

    Sign me Up !

When people turn 50 or when they're younger and have a family history of Colon Cancer, the recommendation is that they have a Colonoscopy.  It's typically not high on anyone's list of favorite things that they just can't wait to try. Along with getting an invitation to join AARP, this marks another age related rite of passage in a person's life that doesn't carry the same kind of excited anticipation as let's say, getting a driver's license did when we were younger.

It's the whole idea of a small tube with a camera attached being placed into areas that most of us would rather not even think about, let alone make an appointment for.

    It's the Clean Out

When helpful friends are trying their best to reassure you about colonoscopies, they inevitably say something really compelling about how the procedure isn't bad, because the drugs they give you to relax are very pleasant, it's the Clean Out that's the worst part.

I have a friend who needed a colonoscopy for a serious bowel problem, who had so much trouble drinking her Clean Out solution, that I had to go over and drink a few sips to show her it wasn't so bad.  I know, I know, I'm an enabler.  She's a nurse too, so you'd think she'd chug it down, but that's another story.

Virtual Colonoscopy the Wave of the Future

This is perfect timing.  So instead of having a large tube with a miniature camera inserted, people who are having virtual colonoscopies, will have an even smaller tube inserted that release a tiny bit of air into the intestines. Then using a combination of CAT scans or MRI while the person lies on their back and then on their tummy, a 3-D image is generated to look for polyps, diverticulosis and colon cancer.

    Drawbacks

You still have to do the Clean Out.  Sorry, haven't figured that one out yet.  And if there is something seen, like a polyp, then a regular (conventional) colonoscopy must be used to remove it.

    What to do

I'm going to find a GI (Gastroenterologist) who does this in my area and I'll let you know how it goes. Anyone want to come over and drink some of the Clean Out mix with me?

my bowling leagues in the rearview mirror for this week..

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 09:22 AM EST [General]

hello folks its that time again to bring you a recap of this  weeks bowling for monday night and thursday night.so on monday night i felt okay but my bowling was just that too in shooting 180-183-178 for a 541 series on the night.yeah i know it wasn,t great but thats all ii could muster up making alot of adjustments too and it just wasn,t meant to be i guess granted i was a bit erratic at times and it showed too.team wise we won 2 out of three games  but we lost total pins going 4-3 on the night.now for thursday night i went in figuring since they have changed the shot a bit i would change my ball surfaces and sure enough it hooked great and at time hooked way too much.too.my night went something like this 207-189-196 for a 593 series for the night.so not bad at all in all reality i just need to get it going again on mondays now but i,ll get there.,i always go thru these little deals from time to time...team wise we took them all on the night going 4-0 so all in all i will take it and move on as we are about 3rd or 4th maybe heading into next weeks bowling on thursday.well folks thats about it for this weeks bowling so have a great weekend and talk with ya next week...

    thanks

    Guest/topic ideas
Among those we talked with this past week were:
Brian Kelly, Mick Cronin, Dave Lapham, David Fulcher, Jim Breech, Mark Curnutte, Jeff Piecoro, Michael Perry(Xavier book),  and Marc Lancaster (Rays writer)
This coming week we will talk with: Sean Miller, Charlie Coles and Tom Browning.....
Got a a topic or guest idea? Email me.
I hope to add college hoops to the conversation this week. The UC football conversation hasn't taken off like I'd hoped. I get no traction from MLB playoff talk. The reality is there are more Bengals fans than fans of anything else going on right now.  But I struggle to keep Bengals talk interesting and not just a rip fest.
I'll keep trying to keep things fresh, give you variety and get you involved.

An account has been opened for Mike in Fairfield
Thanks to 5th/3rd Bank and Randy Wolf of Homer Sales...we've opened an account for Mike in Fairfield. If you are interested in helping out with a couple of bucks you can make a donation in his name at ANY 5th/3rd Bank.
I realize times are tough for everyone, but if you are depositing a paycheck today, keep Mike in mind.
Here is the info you can give at ANY 5th/3rd
    Name: Mike Brockman

    Update on Mike from Fairfield
I stopped by to see Mike Thursday night. I got him some groceries and made sure he's going to be able to stay at the Motel for another week while he figures out what to do next.
He gave me a hug and had tears in his eyes. He was blown away by the support you guys have shown. Since 3pm Thursday there has been a steady stream of listeners stop by the Motel to offer help. When I arrived I saw Randall from Colerain. Hammy had stopped by earlier. Mike said it was the best day he's had in the last 3-4 weeks when all this began.
Friday I hope to have news on a 5th/3rd account for him if you would like to make a donation to help him get on his feet. You guys are the best! Thanks for answering the rally call.
I can't thank Mark Schlemmer of 980 WONE in Dayton enough for the heads up on Mike's situation. He helped me get the ball rolling on help for Mike.

    Batter Up!

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 09:02 AM EST [General]

Well, who knew I'd be so popular! Within 24 hours of posting my Yahoo! Personals ad, I receive several responses. And, being a bit of a cheapo this early in the game, I'm not paying for a subscription yet. But there is one guy who sends me an email with his instant messenger name and email, so I add him to my online friends so we can chat.

We chat for several days. He's 35yo, 5'11'', a chiropractor (practicing about 5 or 6 years), and lives in on the Eastern Shore of Florida. Obviously, I'm not going to disclose where people live or their real names. The Chiropractor portrays himself as an old fashioned gentlemen. He sends me pictures of himself and I find him a good looking man. As we continue to chat, he intrigues me enough that after about a three days I give him my phone number to call me. The Chiropractor has the cutest southern accent, and is very sweet over the phone. He loves all sorts of ethnic foods, speaks a little bit of Spanish, enjoys comedy, and willing to go a karaoke bar (and if drunk enough, he might even sing!). I notice that he seems a bit nervous, but then again trying to impress someone over the phone can be nerve-raking. But as the conversations continue, I'm intrigue enough to want to meet The Chiropractor.

As we approach our meeting date, dinner at an Ocala Japanese Restaurant, I grow excited, and I don't shy away from telling him so! The nights just before our first date, we have the most incredible phone sex! I couldn't wait to meet this handsome and exciting man! The night before our meeting he tells me that he's very nervous because he doesn't “look like Brad Pitt.” Okay folks, let's just say this, there is only one Brad Pitt, and no one else will be that incredibly attractive but Brad Pitt. So, this comment always makes me a bit annoyed, and I'm more than happy to tell The Chiropractor I was annoyed. I tell him I'm not movie star either, but my pictures are very recent and very representative of my appearance. That then leads me to ask him, are you're pictures representative of what you look like now, and he says yes, and tells me he's added me as his myspace friend. (Relax, he's not my myspace friend anymore so no you can't go find him on my page.)

Time for an aside on personals picture. If you are online dating, post a great picture of yourself. I'm all for choosing a picture that makes you look great. But, DO NOT post a picture that is five years old, no matter how GREAT you think you look!!!! Even if you look great, you now look different. This will be important later.
